Glabar Park

Glabar Park is a largely residential neighbourhood in Ottawa’s Bay Ward. Bounded by Woodroffe Avenue, Carling Avenue, Maitland Avenue and the Queensway, it’s very easy to get anywhere you need to go within the city.

The first homes in this neighbourhood were built around Hare Avenue in 1950, and development continued throughout the ’50s by F.J Shouldice Construction Company and Teron Construction. Glabar Park consists of mainly single-family homes, some townhomes built in the mid-1980s along Esterlawn Private, and a few low-rise buildings along Carling Avenue.

D. Roy Kennedy Public School, Fairlawn Plaza, St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Maryvale Academy and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church all find their homes within Glabar Park. The neighbourhood has three parks: Glabar Park, Lorry Greenberg Park, and Kingsmere Park. Kingsmere Park with its skating rink in the winter, a wading pool in the summer and year-round playground attracts more of the young families out to play and has more of a social setting.
